Maryknoll Nepal/Aashadeep, Kathmandu

Maryknoll Nepal (Aashadeep) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in 1991, dedicated to the promotion of mental health in Nepal.  The organization is engaged in treating people with mental disorders, and rehabilitating them in the community, raising awareness about mental health and psychiatric disorders, and training health personnel in mental health issues under the banner Ashadeep. The organization is currently running a psychosocial residential rehabilitation program for financially disadvantaged people in Nayapati, Kathmandu. However, they were finding it increasingly challenging to carry out their activities effectively due to poor infrastructure. They had beenusing their dining space as an auditorium for the activities like staff development, training, parents’ meeting, orientation program, recreation, occupational therapy, etc. Similarly, they lacked space for other day care activities like occupational therapy, vocational therapy, recreational activities, etc. Additional space was also required for Practical Field Placement referred from different related institutions. For this purpose, Maryknoll Nepal was planning to construct a multi-purpose hall on its premises with an estimated cost of Rs. 9,538,215 (Nine Million Five Hundred thirty-Eight Thousand Two Hundred Fifteen), for which they are seeking financial support. As Maryknoll Nepal/ Aashadeep has been providing a most essential service in the field of mental health for many years and proper infrastructure is a pre-requisite to providing quality service, it was proposed to contribute an amount of Rs. 4,000,000 (four million) to them to help construct the multi-purpose hall at their existing premises.

Rotary Mahaveer Limb Rehabilitation Centre Birgunj, Parsa

Rotary Mahaveer Jaipur Limb Rehabilitation Centre (RMJRC) is a unit of Rotary Diagnostic Centre, an organization affiliated to Rotary Club of Birgunj. The centre is a joint venture between Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) Jaipur, India and RMJRC. In Nepal, it is the only centre providing artificial limbs for free to people of Nepal and India. Similarly, RMJRC provides free services of food and accommodation to patients during the treatment. Until now, the centre has provided artificial limbs to 242 people. The cost of each limb is Rs. 12,500 which is given free to amputees. Their additional expenses are on machinery and raw materials, training and stipend to technicians and other regular monthly overhead costs. RMJRC plans to increase annual distribution from 150 limbs to 250 limbs per year. The entire operation is run through donations. They are also planning to introduce the production of Orthosis and calipers at the same centre. So, they were seeking financial support for the same.

As RMJRC has been providing a most essential service for poor handicapped people, it was proposed to contribute an amount of Rs.6,25,000 (six hundred twenty-five thousand) to help them continue their social work which is not being provided by any institutions in Nepal.

HDL gives support to Samata Educational Guthi

Kathmandu. Himalayan Distillery Limited has been supporting the community in the fields of education, health, sports, gender equality and environment as part of its corporate social responsibility.

At the same time, Himalayan Distillery has provided Rs. 25 lakhs for Samata Educational Guthi from the budget that was allocated for the educational sector in the fiscal year 2077/78.

84 schools are run by Samata Educational Guthi across the state in which educational programs are running from class 1 to postgraduate. Guthi claims that around 70,000 students have benefited.

It has been informed that this Guthi will pay Rs. 100 per student per month educational fee for the disadvantaged sections of the community, children of daily wage workers, orphans and street children who are being taught.

During a program for Samata Educational Guthi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Himalayan Distillery, Akhileshwar Prasad Singh, in the presence of senior artists Madankrishna Shrestha and Harivansh Acharya, handed over a cheque of Rs. 25 lakhs to the founder of Guthi, Uttam Kumar Sanjel and the director of Guthi, Dinesh Sanjel at contact office of the company, Jawalakhel.

Chief Executive Officer Mahesh Prasad Pokharel and Company Secretary Nisha Niraula were also present in the event.

Shree Nepal Rastriya Adharbhut School, Patelnagar, Birgunj

Nepal Rashtriya Aadharbhut Vidyalaya, Patel Nagar, Parsa, a school near Himalayan Distillery Limited, was constructing Nepal Rashtriya Aadharbhut Vidyalaya, Patel Nagar, Parsa, a school near Himalayan Distillery Limited, was constructing a building consisting of two rooms with the support received from the government. As the fund made available was insufficient to complete the roof, a request was made for contribution from JGINF. The estimated cost of construction is Rs.7,72, 182/- (seven hundred seventy-two thousand one hundred eighty-two). The Board considered the matter and decided to contribute Rs. 500,000 (five hundred thousand) under educational development.

Ek Ek Paila Foundation, Thapathali, Kathmandu

EK EK Paila Foundation located at Thapathali, Kathmandu is an initiative of a group of volunteers in Nepal with a motive to provide free health services to the people in the remote rural areas and has been actively involved from 6th June 2015 from Sindhupalchowk District, which was the most devastated region after the earthquake. The Foundation had submitted a proposal on 20th July 2021 for the establishment of EK EK Paila ‘Hamro’ Community Hospital, which is a 10 years program that has aimed to build a sustainable health care delivery model by delivering primary health care 15-bed hospital in Thokarpa VDC, Sindhupalchowk District. The foundation had requested financial support of Rs. 1,89,15,000 (eighteen million nine hundred fifteen thousand) for covering the operating cost of the hospital.

After a detailed discussion, the Board was of the view that the foundation has taken a remarkable initiative to address the health issue of the rural population and the Board approved the contribution of 10,00,000/- (one million) annually for three years to each hospitals.

Gajendra Narayan Singh Memorial Foundation, Chandranigapur, Rautahat

Gajendra Narayan Singh Smitri Pratisthan was planning to build a hospital consisting of 300 beds in Chandranigapur, Rautahat District, 63 KM from Birgunj. The land survey map had already been approved by the concerned authority. Initially, the plan was to set up a charitable hospital consisting of 100 beds. They had requested JGINF to provide support of Rs. 10 million. The Board decided to contribute an amount of Rs. 1,000,000 (one million) for the purpose.

HDL passes 100% dividend, 18 months bonus

Birganj. The 21st General Assembly of Himalayan Distillery Limited, which produces the most sold Golden Oak liquor in Nepal, has passed the 100% dividend proposed from last year’s profit.

The general meeting held in Birganj has passed a resolution to give 75 percent bonus shares and 25 percent (including tax purposes) cash dividend. The company had also given 100% dividend. The company has been giving 100% dividend for the past three years. Pohor gave half cash and half bonus shares.

The paid up capital of the company is Rs 8677 million. The reserve fund of the company is one billion 34 million rupees. The company made a net profit of 1.4 billion last financial year.

From this profit, 100% dividend of the paid-up capital is going to be given. After passing the bonus shares, the company’s paid-up capital has increased by 657 million rupees. The shareholders have received a total of Rs 21 crore 69 lakh as cash dividend.

The company’s chief executive officer, Mahesh Prasad Pokharel, said that the authorized capital equal to 900 million will reach 1.6 billion. Employees and laborers of the company will get a bonus of 15 crore 64 lakh rupees from the profit.

Last year the workers got a 9 months bonus, but this year they will get a bonus equal to more than 18 months salary.

Akhileshwar Prasad Singh, chairman of the company’s board of directors, presented the annual report.
